Objects Permissions
Viewing Objects
You can create, edit, and maintain custom objects and fields in Tools > Data > Objects.
- View standard objects and fields. These are created and maintained by Tendo engineering. They are not editable, and their definitions cannot be modified.
- Extend a standard object with custom fields that don't currently exist in the object. For example, the Patient object may not include some fields for data that the customer currently tracks in their Electronic Health Record (EHR). In Objects, you can add one or more fields to the Patient object to store and sync with the EHR through an integration.
- Create, view, and edit tenant-specific custom objects and custom fields for them, including ones that are based on or have relationships with standard objects. This enables you to create a custom object to track data that Tendo doesn't currently track. From example, appointments for specialists at a customer organization may need intake forms that have questions specific to a specialty. You could add an Intake Form object for that specialty, and create fields on the object that relate to the Patient and Appointment objects.
Objects Permissions
Standard objects and their standard fields generally are Read Only even if a user has permissions to manage objects permissions. The following are object-related roles and permissions required to access Objects in Tools.
- Object Viewer - To view objects and value sets, you must be assigned an Object Viewer role. This is for users who need to view objects and value sets to perform their work in Atrium, but don't need to manage objects and value sets. Permission is Read Only. A person with this role needs these permissions:
- Read Objects - Turns on the Objects tab on the Data page, allowing users a read-only view of all objects and fields.
- Read Value Sets - Turns on the Value Sets tab on the Data page, allowing users to see a read-only view of all value sets. Users with Read Objects need Read Value Sets permission to see the details of value set field references for their work.
- Object Manager - This role can create, edit, delete, and otherwise manage custom objects and value sets. The user with these roles must have these permissions:
- Manage Objects - Turns on the Objects tab on the Data page, allowing users to create, edit, and delete custom objects and fields as well as see all standard objects and fields and add custom fields to some standard objects.
- Manage Value Sets - Turns on the Value Sets tab on the Data section, allowing users to create, edit, and delete custom value sets and edit configurable value sets. Users with Manage Objects need this permission to create new custom value sets and manage value sets for a custom field.
- Manage Data Loader - Turns on the Loader tab, allowing users to access the Loader.
- Page Layout object permission
- Any custom object added to a tenant also should be added with permissions to view, read, edit, and delete.
Viewing Objects
Navigate in Atrium to the dropdown menu at the top of the main left navigation bar and choose Tools. On the left navigation bar, choose Data.
Note: If you can’t see Data, you don’t have permissions to view and/or manage data including objects. Contact Support to get permissions assigned to you.
Click on the Objects tab. A list of the objects that are available in this tenant is displayed in the object list view.
The list displays all objects in the system sorted alphabetically by the Object Singular Label, which is the Title text on each object’s row. The Object Name is the smaller gray text. A tag on the right side of each row indicates whether the object is a Tendo or custom object.
Note: Under some objects' titles and subheads is rose colored text indicating that an Object is Abstract or Detail only. Custom fields can't be created on Detail Objects and Abstract Objects.
Search for an object by name in the search bar at the top of the list view or browse the list to find a specific object.
Creating a Custom Object
Navigate in Tools to Data and make sure the Objects tab at the top of the list view is active.
Click on the + icon on the right in the list view to bring up the Add Object modal.
Note: If you don’t have Manage Objects permission, the + icon will not be visible. Contact Support to be assigned this permission.
In the modal that displays, add the name of the object, singular and plural labels that will display in the interface, and a description of the object. Click Add.
The new object will now appear in the list of objects, with a Custom tag.
