Value Items in a Value Set

Viewing Value Items in a Value Set

Click on the Values tab at the top of a value set’s detail view to see its specific value items, their labels, categories (this is not visible for all value sets), whether they have tags, and whether they are active or inactive.

Adding a New Item to a Value Set

Note: You must have Manage Value Sets permission to create items. If you have only Read Value Sets permission, you can see values but not create or edit them. The + icon will not be visible, and the dropdown menu on the right will be removed so that you can’t Edit and Delete values.

In the Value Sets list view, select the value set you want to add a value to. The value set’s detail view will display on the right. Click + Add in the upper right corner.

A modal displays in which you can input information about the value’s attributes.

Input information into the fields, which can vary somewhat depending on the value you are adding.

  • Name - Required. Use Pascal case for Value Set Names, with a maximum of 40 characters. Don’t use spaces, underscores, or other non alpha numeric characters in the name. The first character must be a capital letter, and not a number. The Value Set must have the same name (case insensitive). The system will automatically append a __c suffix.
  • Label - This is the label that displays.
  • Value - The value you are adding.
  • Source - Optional. Some values are Tendo-based, and others are based on a variety of coding systems. In some cases, such as for some values for Allergy value sets, it’s important to include the coding source that is the basis for this value.
  • Category - Required. This field will only display if the Value Set has a Category Source.
  • Tags - Optional. You can include any type of tag that you want in this field. For example, for immunizations, it’s not always possible to include a category for a type of vaccine because some vaccines protect from several diseases. In this case, it is helpful to include tags that spell out what is included in a vaccine.

Click Add.

The newly created value will appear in the list of values that are part of the value set.

Editing Tenanted Values in a Value Set

Navigate in Atrium to Tools and click on Data, then select the Value Sets tab. Only configurable Tendo value sets and Custom value sets are editable.

Select one of the value sets in the list view. The value set’s detail view will display to the right with a table that lists items in the value set.

Note: To edit value set items, the value set must be configurable or custom, and you must have Manage Value Sets permission. Otherwise, the Edit button in the top right corner will not display, and you can’t edit the value set.

To edit value set items, click on the Edit button.

A modal will display on which you can edit the labels, values, categories, and status of specific value set items. In this modal, you can drag values up or down so they will appear in a particular order if you checked Ranked in the Add Value Set modal.

Click Save.

Deleting Value Set Items

You can only delete custom or configurable Value Set items.

In the list of the value set items, click on the x on the right of the value set item that you want to delete.

If the Value Set is not active, it is safe to proceed with the delete. However, you will be warned that delete can lead to loss of value set data. Click Delete to proceed.

You also can delete a value set item by clicking on Edit in the right corner, and then clicking on x to the right of the value set item’s row in the Edit Value Set Items modal that displays. Note that this will remove the value set item without a Delete warning.
