Notification Templates

Once message categories have been configured to meet customers' needs, you can create and edit notification templates for specific messages that are sent to patients about their healthcare.

Each message template supports separate properties for each channel (email, SMS, push notifications, and in-app messages in the Patient Care Journey app).

Content for each channel and the sequence of when messages will be sent should be planned before notification templates are created.

Specific templates with customer branding should be created for each use case.

Viewing Notification Templates

Log in to Atrium and select Tools on the dropdown menu in the upper left corner dropdown. Click Notifications on the main left navigation bar. Make sure that the Templates tab at the top of the page is selected.

You can see a list of existing message templates. Each template row in the list includes the name of the template, its Category Ref ID, its status (Active or Inactive), and when it was last updated. You also can see the total number of templates in the system for this healthcare organization at the top.

Search for the notification template that you want in the search bar at the top of the list or by browsing through the list.

Click the name of the template you want to see, and you will be taken to that template in the template editor.

Creating a Notification Template

In Tools, navigate to Notifications on the left navigation bar, and make sure that the Templates tab is selected. This will take you to the template editor. For more about creating a template in the editor, see Creating or Editing a Notification Template.

Editing a Message Template

Existing templates in the development environment and staging environment usually aren’t updated. Editing is used primarily for testing purposes.

To edit a message template, navigate in Tools to Notifications. Search for the message template you want to edit in the top search bar or browse to find the template you want to edit.

Click on the template’s name … dropdown menu on the right of its row and choose Edit. You will be taken to the Edit Template page, where you can make the changes you want. See Creating or Editing a Notification Template for more details about how to use the template editor.

You also can test the email and SMS versions of the email as described in Creating a Notification Template after you have made your changes.

When you know the template is working the way you want it to, click Save.

To exit Edit Template if you don’t want to save it, use the back arrow or click Cancel in the top right corner.

Copying a Notification Template

Navigate in Tools to Notifications and then Templates, and click on the template you want to copy. Click on the … dropdown menu on the right side of its row and choose Copy. You will be taken to the New Template page, where you can change the name of the template and its category, as well as other content on the page. See Creating a Notification Template for more details.

When the template is in the form you want, click Save to add it to the other templates. You will be able to view it on the template list.

Deactivating a Notification Template

To deactivate a message template, find it in the template list, click on the … dropdown menu on the right side of its row and choose Deactivate.
