How Waitlists Work for Patients

After a patient schedules an appointment in the Patient Care Journey app, they can view the appointment details on an Appointment Details screen in the app. If the provider for that appointment has a waitlist that allows the patient to grab an earlier appointment slot than the one they have scheduled, an option to sign up for the waitlist will appear on the Appointment Details page. The patient can toggle it on to join the waitlist.

If an appointment becomes available and the patient is near the top of the waitlist, they will receive a notification saying that the appointment is available. They can click Claim Available Appointment, which will take them into the Patient Care Journey app to schedule the slot.

If they are successful in doing so, the app will automatically cancel their previously scheduled appointment, but will transfer any pre-check-in tasks that the patient has completed such as filling out forms or paying a copay to the newly scheduled appointment.
